Kid-friendly Jeju Itinerary Day 2

Your adventure in Jeju is not complete without climbing the famous Seongsan Ilchulbong or what is known as Sunrise Peak. This is our last day in the island so we started very early (4:30am to be exact), hoping to catch the sunrise.

**Tip:** You could check the internet what time the sunrise in Jeju is. The ticket booth at the entrance of Sunrise Peak also displays the time sunrise is expected for the next day.

At the Entrance of Sunrise Peak

Sunrise Peak is a UNESCO World Heritage Site visited by busloads of tourists all year round.  It opens an hour before sunrise until sunset and closed on inclement weather.

We grabbed our smartphones, jackets and a baby carrier and then went on our way..

The trail towards the top is made up of sturdy, well lighted and well maintained wooden or stone stairs. Climbing up would probably just take around 30 minutes –that is if you don’t have a 1o kilo toddler around you, making you go out of breath and sitting down on rest areas every chance you get.

**Tip:** Bring a bottle of water. Climbing makes you thirsty and sweaty.

40 minutes after, we finally reached the top and just a few seconds early to see the sun peeking out from the horizon.

There were a lot of people, both locals and tourists, who went up to see the magnificent sunrise too.

And we’re finally back down at the entrance.

Our flight back to Seoul is at 1pm the same day and it takes 2 hours bus ride from here to the airport so this was the only activity we scheduled for our last day. We were sad to leave Jeju knowing that there are still a lot of things we can see and do here but then again, all the more reason to plan another trip back hehehe.

For those who are planning to go on a trip to Jeju Island, we suggest that you stay longer. I think a week is enough to cover most of the attractions the island has to offer. Enjoy!
