Easy Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

Summer here in the Philippines can be unbearably hot. It usually calls for a swim in the beach, a dip in the pool, turning on the AC unit for almost a day or ICE CREAM!

I came across an easy, no-churn ice cream recipe and it is only made of 1 ingredient–Bananas. This is a super healthy alternative to our all-time favorite treat plus it’s a great parent-child bonding activity (if they’re not scared of the sound of the blender like Kara). Below are the steps to make your own beat-the-heat, guilt-free dessert:


3-4pcs. Ripe Bananas

2 tbsp. unsweeted cocoa powder

Roasted cashew nuts (optional)


  1. Peel bananas, place them in a bowl and put in the freezer for about 1-2 hours
  2. Once the bananas are frozen solid, remove from freezer and cut into small pieces.
  3. Put sliced bananas in a food processor or blender and blend until it becomes smooth.
  4. Add 2 tbsp. of cocoa powder and pulse/blend for a few seconds. Sprinkle some roasted cashew nuts and serve!

You can enjoy your homemade ice cream as is (banana flavor) or you can experiment on other flavors by adding other ingredients. The plain ice cream can also be given to a teething baby in place of a cold teether. Just make sure your child is at least 6 months old and is allowed by the pediatrician to eat solid food.
